The Falcon Timer - Cooking Made Easy
Prior to children I was never much of a planner when it came to meal time whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. My shopping consisted of grabbing a bunch of random grocery items and hoping that when it came time to make a meal, I could use a combination of whatever I had in the cupboard and fridge. I didn’t have to a schedule to adhere too, so I just rolled with the punches. I had all the time in the world.
Fast forward to post children. Now my time is their time. So before I had endless time. Now I have windows of time. Time that must be allocated accordingly so I can achieve what lies ahead for the day. My schedule revolves around their schedule – sleeping, feeding and playing. So that means planning ahead and being super organized. I now have meal plans for the week – not necessarily what night I will cook them – but enough recipes and groceries to get me through each day.
There are two appliances in my kitchen that help me attain my goals – one is my slow cooker. I can’t live without my slow cooker! Prepare the meal in the morning, then watch it do all the hard work through out the day while I get to go about the rest of my day. The delicious smell that wafts through the house does make it difficult to concentrate and not think about food all day.

Then there is my Falcon Professional+ FX 90cm Cooker. A lot of my meals are prepared on the gas hob using pots and pans or alternatively grilling on the Teppanyaki Style Griddle Plate. For the times when I do need to use the oven, I always use the Falcon oven timer. Whether it be the minute minder, so I receive reminders to come back to the kitchen to check on my cooking, or the actual programmable timer so I can cook while I am not even home!
That’s right – your eyes have not deceived you. Multi task by cooking when you aren’t even home. There are many owners of a programmable oven that just don’t take advantage of this function. Perfect for when you have to duck out to kid’s sports, you’ll be late home from work or like me you were spending a lot of time in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) visiting your early bird arrival. You simply have to plan your meal, place it in the oven and program your start and finish time (along with setting the appropriate temperature and oven function) and voila – dinner will be ready for serving at your desired time.

If you are unsure or hesitant to use your programmable timer, why not have a few trial runs while you are home to see how it works. Once you get a handle on using it, you will wonder how you ever got by without it!‹ Back
